![]() ![]() Post said things had led her to believe there will not be a reasonable resolution in the future. Post said that many things were preventing Swift from wanting to work with Braun, including having to sign a non-disclosure agreement that would force her to only say positive things when asked about Scooter Braun. Her two most recent albums, Lover (2019) and folklore (2020) will directly support her from streams or purchases. This includes any streams on streaming sites or any new purchases of old albums from fans from her albums Taylor Swift (2006), Fearless (2008), Speak Now (2010), Red (2012), 1989 (2014), and Reputation (2017). But, she has remained consistent that she is not interested in working with Braun, because any part of his in her recordings would only bring him profit from her hard work. Since then, Braun has again sold her masters to a small private firm called Shamrock Holdings, who agreed to work with Swift to buy back parts of her masters. Swift fan Olivia Post said that, when Big Machine Records was up for sale, Swift was under the impression that she would be able to work out a deal to buy her masters but after the company was sold, it was clear a deal with Braun and Borchetta would not be in the works. Without Swift’s knowledge or consent, Borchetta sold the company, including her records, to music manager Scooter Braun. This meant that Big Machine Records and its previous owner, Scott Borchetta, owned all the rights to the masters to Swift’s first six albums, including the songs, artwork and lyrics. Recently, Swift’s original contract with Big Machine Records ended, and she chose not to resign. She has been the subject of lots of criticism throughout the years, but along the way has released award-winning albums and popular singles gaining her just as much support. ![]() Bursting onto the scene in 2006 with her self-titled debut album, a long career in the public eye awaited her. I do want it to be in movies, I do want it to be in commercials. "The reason I'm rerecording my music next year is because I do want my music to live on. "Every week, we get a dozen synch requests to use 'Shake It Off' in some advertisement or 'Blank Space' in some movie trailer, and we say no to every single one of them," she said. Taylor also revealed in an interview with Billboard last year that she would refuse all licensing requests for her music to be used in ads, trailers and movies until she was able to rerecord her work in order to prevent Big Machine and Scooter Braun profiting from it. In the same post, Taylor also said they wouldn't allow the use of her old music in her Netflix documentary, Miss Americana.īig Machine ultimately allowed Taylor permission to perform her old songs at the AMAs following the publication of her post. They claimed, Taylor said, that an AMAs performance (and distributing recordings of it) would count as rerecording her music before she was legally allowed to. Last November, Taylor posted a lengthy statement on social media claiming she was being blocked from performing her earlier music at the AMAs, where she was honoured as Artist of the Decade, by Scott Borchetta and Big Machine.
